Aarif started his broadcasting career when he joined TV3 as Audio Technician in 1986. He had worked on all types of television production, ranging from news transmission to studio production, to outside broadcasts. He was a pioneer crew member in the long-running Juara Lagu series. In 1992, he was seconded to TV3’s subsidiary Animated & Post-production Techniques (APT) as Senior Audio Editor to head its Audio Department.His stint at APT saw him servicing local and international clients from the advertising industry. His expertise there ranged from voice-over recording, music recording, music editing, sound designing and mixing.
In 1996, he was hired by MEASAT Broadcast Network Systems, the operator of the country’s pioneer satellite broadcasting station, ASTRO. As Senior Audio Editor, his job ranged from sound design, recording, editing and mixing.A year after that, he was promoted to Head, Audio Post, managing ASTRO’s audio post production crew and facilities ,as well as ASTRO Ria’s language dubbing department. He was also instrumental in the overall audio standards committee at ASTRO, and was also a regular facilitator in all audio technical training exercises.
Although he studied Corporate Communication in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), his passion in broadcasting and audio remains paramount, hence his enthusiasm in lecturing audio at SAE Institute Malaysia. Prior to SAE Institute Malaysia, he had some short stints in corporate management, at premier landscape company Terra Garden Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., and value-added services telco content provider Million Frames Sdn. Bhd.
